Relax Is Better Than Impatience

Relax Is Better Than Impatience

Introduction

All humans face the end of life sooner or later.

But in most cases, later is better than sooner.

A longer life usually allows more learning, more correction, and more understanding than a short one.

The same logic often applies to societies and conflicts.

The US–China Conflict

The US–China conflict is becoming increasingly intense.

The United States tends to act quickly and prefers rapid, decisive moves.

China has historically been capable of enduring long-term pressure, but recently it also appears to be shifting toward faster, more immediate responses.

When two actors both favor speed, their styles begin to match.

As a result, the pace of confrontation accelerates.

This acceleration heats up the world itself.

And when the world becomes too hot, it naturally begins to seek cooling.

Impatience Often Causes Mistakes

From personal experience, impatience frequently leads to mistakes.

Rushed decisions reduce the space for reflection and correction.

There is no reason to assume that nations are immune to this.

The United States and China are likely subject to the same human dynamics.

The Value of Chill Time

What we often need is not more speed, but chill time.

Relaxation is not weakness.

Relaxation allows ideas to emerge, alternatives to appear, and solutions to be discovered.

In many cases, calm thinking produces better outcomes than urgent action.

The Referee Is Not Stronger Than the Boxers

In a boxing match, the referee is not stronger than the boxers.

This is obvious.

Yet the referee has the authority to stop the match when it becomes dangerously unstable.

That authority comes not from physical power, but from rules, sportsmanship, and the shared trust of the audience.

A Message to Europe

I will be honest: there has been a quiet intention behind this essay.

To European countries:

If the US–China confrontation becomes harder and faster, please consider delaying it.

This is not a demand.

It is a request grounded in structure.

Delay is not indecision.

It is the only remaining form of control in an accelerated world.
