Emotional Periodic Table 3.0
In the latest version of Emotionics, the Emotional Periodic Table 3.0,
the structure of human emotions has been refined through three major updates.
🔧 Key Updates
1. Splitting Surprised (Su) into Su+ and Su−
• Su+ (Surprised Positive): A positive surprise that triggers a transition from unpleasant → pleasant
• Su− (Surprised Negative): A negative surprise that triggers a transition from pleasant → unpleasant
Because unexpected events create completely different emotional reactions depending on their direction—positive or negative—this distinction was essential.
2. Swapping the positions of Pleasure (P) and Comfortable (Cm)
Comfortable, a calm and low-activation form of pleasantness, naturally fits as the symmetrical counterpart to Discomfort (Dc).
To maintain left–right balance in the periodic structure, their positions were adjusted.
Pleasure, which is closer to Joy and Satisfaction, has been repositioned as a more “high-activation” pleasant emotion in the middle layer.
3. Adding Credulous (Cr) and Dismissive (Di)
• Credulous: A tendency to believe unquestioningly
• Dismissive: A tendency to reject or discard without consideration
Both are crucial elements for explaining the polarization of emotions in modern society, especially on social media.
🧭 The Role of Su+ and Su−
● Su+ (Positive Surprise)
Creates a turning point from unpleasant → pleasant,
and induces transitions toward positive emotions such as Joy or Relief.
● Su− (Negative Surprise)
Creates a turning point from pleasant → unpleasant,
leading to emotions such as Anxiety or Anger.
By splitting Surprise into two directions,
the “vector of emotional transition” becomes clearly defined.
🔥 Applied Example: The Structure of Online Flame Dynamics
Using the Emotional Periodic Table 3.0,
the mechanism of social-media “flame cycles” can be described almost like a chemical reaction.
① Intentionally generate Su+ (an upward surprise)
→ Followers shift toward Credulous (blind trust).
People enter a state where they easily think, “This person is amazing,” “This must be the truth.”
② Then deliberately trigger Su− (a betrayal-like drop)
→ Dismissive (rejection) erupts in large quantities.
The emotional drop is amplified because it directly follows blind trust.
③ The crowd spreads this rejection
→ Attention spikes, and the cycle becomes profitable.
Behind repeated flame cycles lies a structure where
Surprise and Blind Trust/Rejection reinforce one another.
📘 Expressed as a Reaction Pathway
① Su+ (Positive Surprise)
↓
② Credulous (Blind Trust)
↓
③ Su− (Negative Surprise)
↓
④ Dismissive (Rejection)
↓
⑤ Back to Su+ (Blind trust toward a new target)
A flame-based business is essentially
an emotional reaction cycle that repeatedly oscillates between Su+ and Su−,
mass-producing Cr (credulous) and Di (dismissive) along the way.
