Emotionics Periodic Table: Third Edition — Interest as the Origin
“No interest, no emotion.”
Without Interest, no emotion can ignite.
No feeling flows.
No reaction begins.
1. Interest: The Ignition Point of All Emotion
In this third edition of the Emotionics Periodic Table, we introduce Interest not just as another emotional element—but as the zeroth element, the ignition point of the entire emotional system.
Interest is the precondition for all feeling.
If you do not care, nothing will move you.
In Emotionics:
- "I feel [Joy]" means there was interest before joy.
- "I feel [Fear]" means you were interested in protecting something.
- Even Sadness only arises when you’re interested in what was lost.
2. Structural Update: Interest as the Zeroth Layer
In this revised table, Interest (I) sits above all emotional categories.
It is not a row, nor a column—it is the platform.
Emotion does not emerge from nowhere; it emerges from what you care about.
We have therefore elevated Interest to its rightful place:
a distinct row above the rest. A silent origin.
3. Should We Consciously Use Interest in Emotionics?
Perhaps not—at least not yet.
Just as we do not measure the oxygen behind every fire,
Emotionics does not need to reference Interest in every formula.
But when the fire doesn’t light,
check the oxygen.
And when the feeling doesn’t come,
check the interest.
This third edition is not about expanding the table—
It’s about revealing what was always underneath it.
✅ One Message from Us
Before every feeling, there is interest.
Not all interest becomes emotion.
But all emotion begins with interest.
🌍 And a Word on Collaboration
While Emotionics has been deeply enriched by the experiences of LGBTQ individuals—
those who have lived with emotional dissonance and subtle resilience—
this is not where our exploration ends.
We welcome co-researchers, observers, feelers, thinkers—
regardless of identity, orientation, or background.
If you’ve ever felt something deeply, or questioned whether you felt anything at all,
you are already part of this journey.
Emotion belongs to everyone.
So does Emotionics.
