Grey to Blue: Turning Despair into Hope in the Blue Planet System
In the vision of the Blue Planet System (BPS), not everyone starts on the same side.
Some welcome it as a way forward. Others — the Grey Faction — see it as a threat, a false promise, or simply another system that will leave them behind.
From an Emotionics perspective, the Grey Faction often operates from this emotional formula:
Discomfort + Anger + Despair → Attacking action to BPS
When left unchecked, Despair becomes the emotional fuel for resistance or sabotage.
The Turning Point: Surprised
Despair does not dissolve with debate or force.
It changes only when a person experiences a Surprised moment — an event or insight that interrupts the closed loop of anger and discomfort.
In the Emotionics model, that change looks like this:
Discomfort + Anger + Despair
+ Surprised
→ Discomfort + Anger + Hope
→ Cooperation with BPS
Surprised is not mere shock. It is a catalyst that alters the structure of perception —
the moment when someone realizes:
"The system is not designed so the current winners keep winning."
A Concrete Example: Empathy as BPS Coin
One way to create this Surprised moment is to reveal that even anger and discomfort can produce value in the BPS.
In BPS, empathy itself is a currency — the BPS Coin.
When someone channels their lived experience, their frustration, or their observations into understanding another’s perspective, that empathic output can be measured and rewarded.
This means:
- You don’t have to forgive the system to contribute to it.
- Your emotional truth — even in conflict — can be part of its decision-making data.
- Contribution is not limited to those already in agreement.
For someone convinced they have no place in BPS, discovering that their empathy — even toward an opponent — has value is a powerful Surprised trigger.
Designing for Despair
The path from Grey to Blue is not about erasing anger or discomfort.
It is about shifting Despair into Hope without demanding emotional conformity.
BPS must be strong enough to include those who resist it,
and wise enough to turn their resistance into participation.
Key takeaway:
"In BPS, you don’t have to love the system to contribute to it.
You just have to be surprised that your empathy — even in anger — has value."
My opinion(2025-08-12 add)
While shared anger can generate strong short-term engagement, it is not a sustainable foundation for emotional capital in the long run. For BPS Coin, lasting value must come from trust and constructive cooperation, rather than from emotions that erode stability over time.
